The faculty of Agriculture – KNUST
In 1953, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources founded the Faculty of Agriculture. It began as a Department of Agriculture and eventually became the School of Agriculture, to provide a variety of ad hoc agricultural courses to workers from Ghana’s Ministry of Agriculture. It also offered agricultural instructors training in rural science. In January 1958, a four-year diploma program in Tropical Agriculture began, but in 1961, it was elevated to a three-year BSc degree program.
The three-year program was replaced by a four-year program in 1968. Along with the degree program, two-year diploma programs in horticulture, agricultural extension, and farm management were also offered. In 1997, these diploma programs were phased out. During the 1970s, the Faculty provided a Forestry Diploma and Certificate program for a short time.
KNUST runs various Agrirunstural courses through its Depathrough is Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness,s, and Extension (DAEAE).
The Department of Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness,s, and Extension (DAEAE) is one of the four departments of the Faculty of Agriculture, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, KNUST, Kumasi. The Department provides teaching, research,h and community service in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness Management, and Sustainable Integrated Rural Development.
The Department’s vision and mission are in line with the KNUST Corporate vision and mission of being among the top Departments to advance knowledge in science and technology through creating an environment for undertaking relevant research, quality teaching, entrepreneurship training,g and community engagement to improve the quality of life. The Department has over the past maintained its core values of ensuring a culture of excellence, high integrity, and stewardship of resources.

The Department of Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, and Extension (DAEAE) offers a 4-year undergraduate program in BSc (Agribusiness Management) and also hosts two undergraduate final year options under the BSc (Agriculture) in the Faculty of Agriculture as follows;

What is the WASSCE/SSSCE Cut Off Point for Degree in Agriculture in KNUST?
An applicant for admission to a degree Programme in the University must have credit in the THREE WASSCE/SSSCE Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics,s, and Integrated Science), and credits in THREE WASSCE/SSSCE Elective Subjects it’s equivalent relevant to the chosen Programme with aggregate 24 or better (WASSCE: A1- C6/SSSCE A-D) D7, E8 & F9 ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR ADMISSION PURPOSES.
